A ‘tremendously fun’ opening day for Newton recreational pot shop

Shaun Connolly, a Worcester comedian, and Luke Robinson, a musician from the band Seven were the first two customers at Garden Remedies’ grand opening for the sales of recreational cannabis products to legal customers at the Newton location Saturday morning.

Globe Correspondent Maddie Kilgannon reached out to Julia Wentworth, the company’s director of retail.

“It’s been tremendously fun — we couldn’t be happier with how today went,” Wentworth said.

Wentworth went on to say, “I think people are just so excited to finally do this and do it legally.”

Garden Remedies Readies Recreational Marijuana Sales in Newton 

After winning final approval from the state Cannabis Control Commission, Garden Remedies, Inc. will open for adult use cannabis sales at the Newton dispensary on Saturday, May 25, 2019.

“We have been working for years to achieve adult use cannabis sales in Newton—a dream that is now becoming a reality, and we are determined to continue to be good neighbors here in Newton,” said Dr. Karen Munkacy, founder, president and CEO of Garden Remedies, Inc.

Appointments are required and can be booked online at starting Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 4:20 p.m.

Newton Recreational Marijuana Store Gets OK to Open

It’s a go! Garden Remedies Inc. received its “commence operations” notice from the Cannabis Control Commission May 21, giving approval to open for adult use sales at the  Newton, MA dispensary as early as Saturday, May 25.

Garden Remedies’ Newton dispensary will be Massachusetts’ 19th recreational marijuana store    and the second in the metro Boston area.

Mayor Ruthanne Fuller provided an update to Newton residents regarding the appointment-only  process and encouraged customers to use the public metered parking on Washington Street or take public transportation to the store.
